7,500 Street Corners – One City

Streets shouldn't just be expressways for dangerous, cut-through traffic. They are public spaces in front of our homes that have enormous potential to create joy and connect us with our neighbors. As technology increasingly isolates us and political vitriol divides us, it's more important than ever to create community spaces that bring us together and allow society to heal.

According to a recent study by SAMSHA, approximately 1 of out of every 3 young adults (age 18–25) suffer from a mental health disorder and only 1 out of 2 have received any form of treatment. Approximately 20% of adolescents (age 12–17) experienced a major depressive episode in the past year, with 13.4% having serious thoughts of suicide. 29% of American adults (age 26–49) currently suffer from mental health disorders and loneliness is a pressing issue amongst adults over age 50, with over one-third reporting feelings of isolation.

San Francisco has a responsibility to lead, not just in technical innovation, but in mental health and social justice by opening our streets for human connection, creativity and collaboration. We are here to help you build a public parklet or green space for your community, host that popup event you've been dreaming about and help you get outside and make new friends.
