Our mission is to make neighborhoods safer by providing resources and support for community building events and initiatives.

San Francisco is currently experiencing a renaissance in rethinking how its streets can best serve the public good. The introduction of Slow Streets in April 2020 was the first of many city initiatives to help neighbors meet each other and prioritize the health and safety of people walking, biking and scooting over dangerous cut-through traffic.

Since then, projects like Downtown First Thursdays and night markets in the Outer Sunset, Chinatown and Mission District have brought droves of people out into the streets injecting millions into San Francisco's economic recovery.

However it's not always easy to meet people at events designed to attract thousands of people that are centered around live entertainment, commerce and alcohol. Community Streets focuses on creating pop up public spaces in quiet residential communities where feelings of loneliness and isolation haunt too many of our neighbors.

We are here to help you organize that community BBQ, happy hour or painting class you've been thinking about. You have an idea that can bring people together and we have resources that can help you pull it off. Join us, make new friends and learn a bit about how to advocate for safer streets along the way.
